DESCRIPTION:As part of the Local History Month, the museum has arranged a programme of short talks by local historians on a variety of subjects.\nEach talk will be approximately 15 mins long with time afterwards for questions.\nAdmittance is free but please book your place with the library front desk as places are limited.\nMay 2 – Westbury Worthies – Liz Argent uncovers the life of James Wilson, Westbury MP and founder of the Economist.\nMay 9 – Early 19th century life in Westbury – Steve Hobbs looks at how the poor of Westbury were supported\nMay 16 – Westbury and the slave trade – Sally Hendry talks on the life of plantation owner Bryan Edwards\nMay 23 – White Horses of Wiltshire – Tony Painter unpicks the legends behind the chalk hill figures\nMay 30 – Wartime in Westbury from a child’s view – Liz Argent looks at how children coped in the war years. This is part of the museum’s Summer Exhibition “Wartime in Westbury”\n
